WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND RAISED?
I was born in Santa Rosa, CA but only lived there one month until moving to Santa Cruz, CA!

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR PERSONAL PRACTICE
My first yoga class with a bikram class in Santa Cruz. It was SO tough, but I loved the heat! I then took a couple vinyasa classes in high school but I didn’t find my consistent practice until I met a friend in San Diego in 2017. Then, I lost someone very close to me in March 2019, so I looked to yoga to pick me back up and two weeks later, I signed up for the hot power yoga teacher training at Corepower yoga in Santa Barbara. Since then, yoga has become my power!

TELL US A BRIEF HISTORY OF YOUR TEACHING EXPERIENCE
In April 2019, I did a 200 hour training at Corepower Yoga Santa Barbara. I finished it at the end of October and was hired to teach at the La Cumbre studio. In April 2020, I did the 80 hour yoga sculpt training online through Corepower Yoga Westlake. Then, I began teaching classes at Corepower Yoga in Westlake and Thousand Oaks as well. Around the same time, I taught at the Pharm in Ventura. Now, I’m teaching here and at Firehouse Yoga!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA POSE?
Child’s pose! I feel grounded, connected and calm. However, I have the chance to may take it up a notch and get a juicy stretch in. It’s such a well-rounded pose!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YOGA/SPIRITUALITY/SELF HELP BOOK?

The four agreements. I read this book many years ago. Then, in 2018 I was working with a friend and he recommended I read it again. It’s put my personal freedom into perspective and opened my eyes to many other self help books that have given me many important tools.

ANY ADVICE FOR BEGINNERS?
Yoga looks different to everyone. Try and understand what it might look like to you! But that may not happen right away, so just ride the wave and always fall back on your breath!

WHAT DOES “COMMUNITY” MEAN TO YOU?
Finding a safe place to come together and build each other up!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT VENTURA?
It feels like home. It’s adventurous yet relaxed! It’s the perfect place to hide in the mountains or nestle in the sand.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION?
I work for the Public Defenders office and we work closely with Turning Point. Turning point helps individuals, like my clients, with getting mental health help and to come out of homelessness!
